International Scout Visiting Program

January 12 (Sat) to January 15 (Tue) , 2008

Hosted by the Scout Groups of Nanoh and Shounan District, Kanagawa Council

1st day with Reception Party
  
A total 66 Scouts and Leaders (15 Leaders, 31 boys and 20 girls) from Incheon Council have visited Japan with a schedule of January 10 (Wed) to January 16 (Wed).
    

Culture Exchange Program - Dance
  
This international visiting program has 35 years of continuous activity history. Visiting each other every year between Korea and Japan for alternately, and conducts a home stay program to get acquainted with visiting county's culture and have a cultural exchange of Scouts and Leaders of both country.

What attracted the Scouts from Incheon was those street stalls along the approach path to a shrine.


Tour of Kamakura Hachiman Gu
  
January 14 (Mon) is a holiday in Japan. The Plenary Meeting was held at Kamakura where we find many old temples and shrines. The visiting members of Incheon with Japanese Scouts and host families together visited Tsurugaoka Hachiman Gu which is a very famous shrine in Japan with a guide of this shrine's staff. Thanks to the staff, who is also a leader of Scout group, we were able to see the spots where it is not known by even Japanese people such as a birthplace of National Trust Activity of Japan.
    

Culture Exchange Program - Tea Ceremony

Joined together at Nojima Center
After a night stay at Nojima Center, the Incheon members had a last program in Japan, visting Tokyo Desinyland. Because a following day of January 15 (Tue) was not a holiday and had a school, Japanse Scouts could not join this program.

The Incheon members returned to Korea in Janaury 16 (Wed).
Now, it is a turn for members frlom Japan to visit Incheon in next year, that is schedule to be from Janauray 3 (Sat) to January 7 (Wed) in 2009.
